| Painting Tip |

We are having the most fantastic fall. Sunny days with no cloud and cool nights. Its a painters paradise! I've been preparing for the upcoming show featuring both my mother, Dorothy Kevis's best work. I've been busy with time for painting at a premium. I still allow myself two days a week minimum or nothing works for me. I am a much happier person with a brush in my hand. My last painting is an acrylic on canvas and I'm really happy with it. Three children on a beach, actually a redo of an earlier watercolour. In the previous painting I included a horse farther away and down the beach that led the eye out of the painting. Sometimes we still make basic mistakes and looking at the piece doesn't reveal but a critique or a good artist friend will help open our eyes. Jury shows that give critiques are excellent but be prepared for honesty. It's one of the best ways to learn though. The next painting is a watercolour of a child looking out across the strait at the coastal mountains. I've erased a ferry, two subjects in one painting. The ferry was too small to add anything other than clutter to the piece so it's better without it. E-mail me if you have any questions. infos at dmdarts.com |
